As I've mentioned before , I was appointed to the Citizen Review Committee (CRC) of the Independent Police Division last October.  It's been an interesting experience thus far. I've been learning a lot and there's been a lot going on.  I've been avoiding writing much as I learn my way around.  I'll be writing a lot more soon but for now, I want to note two quick items in relation to my CRC experience.

Looking for Comments on the Draft PARC Report

The CRC has released a draft report on Police Shootings and In-custody Death, based on the Police Assessment Resource Center (PARC) review released in 2009.  We are seeking comments on the report.  You can read the report here and it will be discussed and potentially voted on at the next full meeting of the CRC on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 5:30 pm in the Lovejoy Room at City Hall (1221 SW 4th Ave.).  You can provide comments by sending an e-mail to the CRC address ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or to me through the "Contact Me" button to the left of this page.  Let us know what you think about the draft report.

Want a CRC Representative at a Community Meeting?

The CRC is increasing its community outreach efforts and wants to talk with community organizations that want to know more about police accountability efforts or whose members would like to talk about experiences with the police, both good and bad.  To request a presentation, send an e-mail to the CRC ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and let us know the organization, dates you're looking at and the like.

Stay tuned for more.
