In a field of candidates as strong as there was in the race for Portland City Council's Position #1, the conventional wisdom always said there would be a run-off.  Conventional wisdom also said that Amanda Fritz would be in the run-off so the race was always for that second slot on the ballot.

After spending the morning analyzing the overnight results and projecting possible outcomes, although I am currently in third place by a few hundred votes, it appears I will be unable to catch up to Charles Lewis to claim that second spot.  I just talked with both Amanda and Charles on the phone to congratulate them and wished them both good luck as they face one another in the general election.

I'll write with more extended thanks soon but for now, let me offer my sincerest gratitude to all those who supported me and voted for me.  Portland voters had a tough job in this race and I appreciated getting your consideration.
